Sport Clubs Association

What is Sport Club Association (SCA)?

Beginning in the Fall of 2005, the Arizona State University Sport Club Association became the governing body for all sport clubs registered with Campus Recreation. The Sport Club Association is a community of students, faculty advisors and coaches that work together to provide outstanding recreational sports experiences for ASU students. Working together, we can accomplish much more than we can individually.

The goals of the Sport Club Association are:
1) to increase support for all clubs,
2) to raise awareness of club activities and achievements,
3) to build community among sport clubs.

Registering as a Member of the Sport Club Association

All members must pay Sport Club Association dues to be eligible. All participant registrations are completed at the SRC Administration Desk, 1st Floor of the Student Recreation Complex on Tempe’s Campus.
Membership in the Sport Club Association consists of:

• Meeting eligibility requirements for membership in the SRC,
• Completing the SCA registration packet, and
• Paying the Sport Club Association membership dues ($15/semester or $25 for the year).

What does the Sport Club Council do?

To accomplish these goals, the SCA has created an executive committee to work with the Sport Club Staff. This executive committee, called the Sport Club Council, is charged with creating objectives and work plans to achieve SCA Goals. In essence, the Sport Club Council is the administrative and judicial branch of the Sport Club Program.
Responsibilities include:
1) Vote on admitting clubs to the Sport Club Association.
2) Create and circulate the sport club newsletter.
3) Develop and oversee the SCA budget.
4) Create and present Sport Club Awards.
5) Develop and promote SCA social functions.
6) Develop fundraising opportunities for the SCA.
7) Develop ways to increase participation and communication between all sport clubs.
8) Serve as the Appeals board for sanctions handed down from Sport Club Staff.
9) Advise the Sport Club Staff on policy development and implementation.
