Sun Devil mindbody Yoga

The Sun Devil mindbody program offers a variety of pilates and yoga classes to the ASU community. Our pilates classes are designed to build strength and rebalance the body, allowing participants improve postural alignment, flexibility, concentration, coordination and body control. Our yoga classes build awareness of the body, mind and spirit through the practice of physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation and mindfulness practice.

All Sun Devil mindbody instructors have undergone extensive training and are nationally certified in their respective disciplines. Additionally, our instructors come to us from throughout the Phoenix area and bring with them a depth of experience and knowledge in the traditions, philosophies and exercise progressions of yoga and Pilates to provide safe and effective classes in a studio-like atmosphere.

SDMB Rules

  • DO arrive 10 minutes early to class, taking into account check in time and set up.  It is very disruptive to the other participants when you arrive late.  If you arrive more than 10 minutes after class, out of respect to the instructor and students please attend a different class.
  • DON'T wear perfume, cologne, or lotions with strong fragrances.
  • DO bring a yoga mat.  You may bring your own or rent one at the Equipment Room for $1.
  • DON'T have conversations with peers or on your cell phone during class.
  • DO wear lightweight, comfortable workout clothes that allow full range of motion.
  • DON'T wear shoes.  Yoga is traditionally practiced barefoot and there are cubbies in the gym for your belongings.
  • DO turn off your cell phone or put it on silent.
  • DON'T skip Savasana!  Savasana is a very important part of the yoga practice.  If you must leave early, let the teacher know before class and do not make a habit of this.
  • DO keep variations appropriate.  Respect the teacher and the class they have prepared.
  • DON'T take an intermediate-advanced class if you are a newcomer to yoga.  Choose an all-levels or beginner class as you progress with your practice.

Participant Eligibility Policies

  • All participants must register to participate at the first floor administration desk.
  • Participants must bring their ASU ID to every class to be eligible to take the class.
  • Small Gym Assistants will check your registration status with your ID card prior to entry in the small gym area.
  • No exceptions will be made for participants who do not have an ID.
  • Please arrive early or on time for classes.  Participants who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start of class will not be allowed entry. 
  • Class cancellations or schedule revisions are subject to change due to low participation, instructor availability, personal emergencies, and illness.
  • Participants with a daily guest pass receipt must give their receipt to the Small Gym Assistants and sign the waiver on the clipboard prior to entry in the small gym area.
  • Non-members must pay the $10 SRC guest pass fee to enter the facility and the appropriate Sun Devil Fit or Mind & Body Program class fee.
