LivWELL Assessment Center
Fitness and Performance Assessments
The LivWell Assessment Center located inside the SRC is a collaboration between the department of Kinesiology and the SRC. Getting an assessment is a great way to understand your current fitness level and track your progress to meet your fitness goals. All assessments are performed by a certified Personal Trainer.
Health Assessments
• Resting Blood Pressure/Heart Rate – Included in each assessment
• Body Composition - Used to describe the percentages of fat, bone, and muscle in the human body.
Includes all of the following:
o Height and Weight
o Body Mass Index (BMI) - Used to estimate a healthy body weight based on a person’s height.
o Waist/Hip Ratio - Used as an indicator of risk for developing a serious health condition.
o Body Fat Percentage (3 Site Skinfold) - Estimated based on the thickness of the skin and subcutaneous fat layer at several standardized body locations.
Fitness Assessments
• Cardiorespiratory Endurance - The ability of the circulatory and respiratory systems to supply oxygen to skeletal muscles during sustained physical activity. Select one of the following:
o YMCA Step Test
o 1 mile Rockport Walk Test
o BYU Submaximal Jog Test
o 1.5 mile Run Test
• Muscle Endurance - The ability of a muscle or group of muscles to sustain repeated contractions against a resistance for an extended period of time.
Includes all of the following:
o Push-up Test
o Partial or Full Curl-up Test
o Timed Wall Sit
• Muscle Strength - The ability of a muscle or group of muscle to generate maximal force against physical objects during a single contraction or exercise.
Includes all of the following:
o 1 RM Bench Press
o 1 RM Leg Press
o Hand Grip Strength Test
• Flexibility- -The distance, degree, or range of motion of a joint throughout a specific movement.
Includes all of the following:
o Sit and Reach
o Shoulder Mobility
Performance Assessments
• Power - The timed rate of work performed by a muscle or group of muscles during a single explosive contraction or movement.
Select two of the following:
o Vertical Jump Test - lower body power
o Broad Jump - lower body power
o Margaria-Kalamen Test - lower body power
o Medicine Ball Throw - upper body power
• Speed - The magnitude of an objects velocity or rate of change of its position through time.
o 40 yard Dash
• Agility - The ability to change the body’s position and direction quickly and efficiently through a specific task or demand.
Includes all of the following:
o Agility T-Test
o Illinois Agility Test
• Anaerobic Endurance - The ability of a muscle to sustain intense, short duration activity.
Includes all of the following:
o 300 yard Shuttle
o Sprint Fatigue Test
• Kinesthetic Awareness - The body’s abilities to coordinate movement and awareness of its location in time and space.
Includes all of the following:
o Stork Balance Stand Test – measures balance
o Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test – measures hand eye coordination • Reaction Time - The ability to involuntarily and nearly instantaneously respond to a stimulus. o Ruler Test• Dynamic Strength - The ability of a person to exert force on physical objects using a combination of different muscles or muscle groups repeatedly throughout a controlled movement.
o Dynamic Strength Test
