Description: This 7-week class introduces yoga practice, breathing exercises, meditation, and the philosophy and history of yoga. Yoga postures are taught with modifications for stiffness and injury with special attention to proper alignment. The practical portion of the course uses a flowing series of poses designed to create strength, flexibility and balance. Participants will also learn breathing and meditation exercises for relaxation and stress reduction. If you are new to yoga, or if you would like to deepen your practice, this course is for you.

Instructor: Rita Rosenthal, RYT, has studied yoga for over 12 years and led others for 7 years. She spent three years developing the yoga program at the University of Minnesota, received her master’s degree focusing on complementary and alternative therapies, became Yoga Alliance certified and is now working on her master’s level certification.
Class materials: Please wear comfortable clothing that allows the body to move freely. Bring your own mat or use mats supplied by the SRC.
